India made a significant leap in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings, moving up to the third position following a nail-biting six-run victory over England in the fifth and final Test at The Oval, London on Monday, August 4.

With the series now ending in a 2-2 draw, India has kickstarted its WTC campaign on a promising note. This win takes India to 28 points and a 46.67 percentage of points (PCT), putting them just behind table-toppers Australia and second-placed Sri Lanka.

England, on the other hand, drops to the fourth position with 26 points and a 43.33 PCT. Their position further weakened after they lost two points due to a slow over-rate in the Lord’s Test earlier in the series.

Australia continues to dominate the WTC table with a flawless 3-0 sweep over the West Indies, collecting the maximum 36 points and a perfect 100 PCT. Sri Lanka, who edged past Bangladesh 1-0 at home, holds second place with 16 points and a 66.67 PCT.

Bangladesh and West Indies are yet to secure a win in the ongoing cycle, while New Zealand, Pakistan, and defending champions South Africa are yet to open their WTC campaigns.
